Overview

The Division of Pediatric Nephrology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Utah School of Medicine invites applications for a Pediatric Nephrologist with a specific interest in pediatric kidney transplantation. The position is open immediately and may lead to the role of Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation upon completion of a 1–3 year mentorship under Dr. David K. Hooper, MD.

Responsibilities

• Provide outpatient and inpatient care for infants, children, adolescents, and young adults with kidney disorders, including those on dialysis and post‑kidney transplant patients.
• Perform essential procedures such as hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, peritoneal dialysis, therapeutic plasma exchange, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, and kidney biopsy with sedation.
• Deliver clinical care at Primary Children’s Hospitals in Salt Lake City and Lehi, UT; University of Utah Hospital and Clinics; and potential outreach clinics.
• Participate in teaching and, where desired, scholarly research; faculty development and mentoring are encouraged.
• Upon appointment as Medical Director of Kidney Transplantation, assume dedicated administrative responsibilities to lead and grow the program.

Qualifications

• Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatric Nephrology.
• Proficient in procedural and clinical care for pediatric kidney diseases.
• Experience or willingness to develop expertise in pediatric kidney transplantation.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an academic, hospital environment.
