Sanford Health is seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician to join their team in Fargo, ND. This role involves both outpatient clinic and inpatient consultative practice within the region's only Level II trauma Children's Hospital. The physician will be part of a large team of pediatric specialists and will have the opportunity for a joint appointment as clinical faculty with the UND School of Medicine and Health Science.
Practice Info
- Outpatient clinic and inpatient consultant practice in the region's only Level II trauma Children's Hospital
- Team currently consists of 2 MD's and 1 Nurse Practitioner
- Consultative service only with 24/7 call coverage approximately 1 week at a time
- Sanford Medical Center houses a 12 bed PICU with additional flex beds if needed, shared with a 24 bed pediatric unit and 40-bed Level III NICU
- Collaborative relationships between primary and pediatric subspecialty services including Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Child Abuse Team, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, and Rheumatology
- Support from more than 65 board certified, fellowship-trained pediatricians and pediatric specialists in more than 25 medical specialties
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examinations
- Admit (if applicable to setting) evaluate, diagnose, consult, and provide care to pediatric and adolescent patients with infectious diseases of all types and in all organ systems
- Teaching medical students, family medicine and pediatric residents (joint appointment as clinical faculty)

Shift & Schedule
- 24/7 call coverage approximately 1 week at a time
Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Successful completion of an Internal Medicine or Pediatric residency program
- Successful completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Infectious Diseases accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
- Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed fellowship training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training
- Experience can be demonstrated by fellowship log (for recent graduates) or a quality profile from hospital(s) showing clinical activity for the last 12 months (for others)
- Ability to demonstrate active involvement of inpatient services, which included the care of at least 50 pediatric patients in the last 12 months (for those not applying directly out of fellowship)
- Ability to demonstrate active involvement in the care of at least 50 pediatric patients in clinical practice in the last 12 months (if quality profile is not available)
