- Sanford Children's Hospital (SCH) is a 146-bed state-of-the-art tertiary care center.
- SCH is the only free-standing children's hospital in the state of SD, opened in 2009.
- Facilities include a 58-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and a 12-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, both staffed by board-certified intensive care pediatricians.
- The bulk of inpatient services are provided by the hospitalist service.
- Offers an extensive list of pediatric sub-specialty services including cardiology, endocrinology, hematology/oncology, gastroenterology, surgery, and pulmonary.
Responsibilities
- Admit patients to the general medical units.
- Provide consults to medical and surgical services.
- Teach medical students and pediatric residents.
- Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide consultation to patients from birth to young adulthood (21 years of age) concerning their physical, emotional, and social health.
- Treat acute and chronic disease, including major complicated illnesses.

Requirements
- BC/BE Pediatric Hospitalist.
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated residency Pediatric program accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
- If not board certified at the time of application but completed residency training within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of residency training.
- Ability to demonstrate at least 50 pediatric patients in the last 12 months (via residency log, quality profile, or documentation of clinical setting activity).
