Mission of Goal of Unit

The Division of PediatricHematology, Oncology and Stem Cell Transplantation at theChildren’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) is seeking a pediatrichematologist/oncologist. Children’s Hospital of Richmond of theVirginia Commonwealth University Health System has committed itselfto transforming the division into a model academic unit devoted toexcellence in clinical care, teaching, and clinical, translational,and basic research.

Chief Purpose of this Position in Support of Above Mission orGoal

The Children’s Hospital of Richmond (CHoR) at VirginiaCommonwealth University is seeking a full time academic faculty tojoin the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. The PediatricHematology/Oncology position supports the division’s continuity ofcare for both new and established patients. The division,integrated within the NCI-designated Massey Comprehensive CancerCenter, offers robust clinical and academic opportunities,including a Pediatric Hematology-Oncology fellowship with supportfor a fourth training year.

Responsibilities

• Teaching: Faculty member will have teachingresponsibilities in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology. Facultymember will provide teaching and mentorship to medical students,residents, and Fellows when applicable.
• Research: Faculty member will have working knowledge inbasic research methods and be able to participate in clinical,translational, and outcomes research that division may play anactive role in pursuing.
• Service: Faculty member will serve on departmental,hospital, or School of Medicine level committees when appropriate,as well as professional activities through journal review,conference presentations, etc.
• Clinical: Faculty member will serve as a physician forthe Department of Pediatrics in the Division of PediatricHematology Oncology including all patient populations.

Minimum Qualifications

• All candidates must be eligible for medical licensure inVirginia
• Board certified or board eligible in PediatricHematology/Oncology
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment ofrespect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty,staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or acommitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in an academic medical center is notrequired but preferred. Academic rank will be commensurate withprevious experience and expertise.
