Position Summary

The Division of Hematology/Oncology at Phoenix Children’s seeks a full‑time, board eligible/board certified pediatric hematologist‑oncologist with an interest in benign hematology, immune deficiencies, WBC disorders or bone marrow failure syndromes. Experience in research and programmatic development would be an asset.

Responsibilities include clinical care, teaching, and participation in clinical research. The candidate will serve as an integral, interactive member of the Division of Hematology/Oncology/BMT in the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, and will participate in inpatient and outpatient management of hematology patients.

The Center is the major referral center in the Southwestern region, with approximately 1,500 new hematology patients per year. It hosts a large patient population, including a federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center, sickle cell/thalassemia patients, and thrombosis patients, and offers multidisciplinary clinics for hemophilia, immunohematology, neurovascular diseases, and other chronically transfused patients.

Successful candidates must be board eligible/board certified in pediatric hematology‑oncology and have the ability to work with teams on patient‑focused, division‑centric, and hospital‑wide initiatives.

Position Duties

  • Patient Care Services
    • Provide patient care services for which you are clinically privileged, including but not limited to:
      1. Direct patient care on an inpatient and outpatient basis.
      2. Subspecialty consultations and follow‑up.
      3. Diagnostic and therapeutic services/procedures.
      4. Urgent/emergent care as necessary.
    • Strive to achieve best patient and family‑centered care.
    • Support hospital’s patient satisfaction goals and division’s specific targets.
    • Adhere to divisional patient safety and quality of care standards.
    • Practice contemporary evidence‑based medicine or latest experience‑based medicine.
  • Divisional Responsibilities
    • Establish and demonstrate effort to achieve annual physician goals and objectives.
    • Support the medical education programs and activities of the Division, including but not limited to:
      1. Direct supervision of trainees and allied health care professionals for delivery of inpatient and outpatient services.
      2. Conduct teaching rounds, lectures, and conferences for trainees.
      3. Participate in teaching and supervision of trainees and allied health professionals assigned to the division.
      4. Participate in the postgraduate continuing educational activities of the division.
    • Support research endeavors of the division, including initiatives by other members.
    • Support programmatic growth of the division.
    • Support satellite efforts of the division when appropriate.

    • Essential physical and mental skills include:
      1. The ability to communicate by telephone, computer or other communication devices.
      2. The ability to perform after‑hours or night call responsibilities as needed.
      3. The ability to work regularly scheduled work hours.

    • Perform miscellaneous job‑related duties as requested.
