Overview
Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is seeking a full-time BE/BC Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join our Hematology Program with a focus in the care of patients with sickle cell disease, hemoglobinopathies, and general hematological diagnoses, including bleeding and clotting disorders.
Children’s Mercy Kansas City has a full-service sickle cell program that follows approximately 300 patients from infancy until 21 years of age. This program has a full complement of staffing including one other faculty physician, two advance practice nurses, a social worker, psychologist, research nurse, and data manager. We are a regional center for Missouri and have been actively involved in clinical trials. The general hematology referral base covers a large catchment area including western Missouri to the Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska and Iowa borders and east Kansas. Children’s Mercy Hospitals and Clinics is a federally funded Hemophilia Treatment Center. The Hemophilia Treatment Center partners with the adult Hemophilia Program at Truman Medical Center. The Hematology/Oncology Division has strong, growing programs in Oncology, Sickle Cell, and Bone Marrow Transplant.
Responsibilities
- Participate in clinical, research, and educational efforts within the Hematology/Oncology Division.
- Mentor residents and/or Hematology/Oncology fellows.
- Contribute to all aspects of the hematology program, including clinical care, research activities, and administrative leadership.
- Collaborate with a team of physicians and advanced practice professionals in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
Qualifications
- Be/Board Eligible in Pediatrics with specialization in Hematology/Oncology (BE/BC).
- Focus in care of patients with sickle cell disease, hemoglobinopathies, and general hematological diagnoses (bleeding and clotting disorders).
- Interest in mentoring trainees and participating in program development and expansion (clinical, research, and education).
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills.
