Pediatric Dentist – SouthEast Alaska Regional Health Consortium (SEARHC)

SEARHC is a non‑profit health consortium providing comprehensive healthcare services to residents of Southeast Alaska. This role joins the Children’s Dental Clinic, a modern facility equipped with the latest pediatric dental technology.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary: $288,000 – $360,000 based on experience
- Sign‑On Bonus: $35,000

Schedule & Work-Life Balance
- Clinic shifts: 4 shifts of 10 hours each week, no on‑call duties
- Traveling clinic: 6‑8 weeks per year serving small communities
Practice Details
• Nine chairs with private, closed operatories and nitrous oxide
• Digital radiography, Dentrix Enterprise software, and Dexis Radiography system
• Patient volume: 16–24 pediatric patients per day
• Treatment opportunities: minimally invasive dentistry, restorative procedures, and full‑mouth rehabilitation in the operating room
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care to patients age 0–18 within the SEARHC Dental Program and Denali Kid Care (Alaska Medicaid for Children)
- Develop and promote oral health education and preventive care for children
- Advise general providers on pediatric oral health matters
- Submit required reports and documentation in a timely manner
- Provide care in remote villages as directed by the Dental Unit Chief of Pediatric Services
- Manage communication with apprehensive or uncooperative patients with patience and organizational skills
- Participate in village field trips and other community outreach activities
- Perform supervisory duties as required
Qualifications
- DDS or DMD degree from an accredited program
- Board Certification or Board Eligibility with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry
- Active dental practice license in Alaska or another U.S. state (Alaska license renewal paid by SEARHC)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association)
- Strong diagnostic and treatment skills; knowledge of evidence‑based dentistry and HIPAA regulations
- Ability to follow infection control guidelines and established protocols
Travel & Physical Requirements
- Occasional travel to remote villages by jet, ferry, or small aircraft
- Physically able to sit for extended periods, with dexterity in hands
- Work environment may be emotionally and physically challenging
Required Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association
