Sanford Health is seeking BC/BE Pediatric Critical Care Intensivists to join its team of 5 physicians at Sanford Children's Hospital in Fargo, ND. This role offers the opportunity to provide critical care management for life-threatening organ system failure in pediatric patients, from neonates to adolescents. The position includes potential leadership opportunities as department chair or medical director of the PICU Level II Pediatric Trauma Center.

- Team of 5 physicians working in the PICU
- 12-bed PICU with additional flex beds, co-located with a 20-24 bed pediatric unit and 40-bed Level III NICU
- Medical staff includes more than 65 board-certified pediatricians and pediatric subspecialists
- Supported by AirMed transport services with helicopter and fixed-wing covering a three-state area, handling over 300 pediatric and neonatal transports annually
- Opportunity to teach University of North Dakota medical students and Sanford Family Medicine residents
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examination
- Admit, evaluate, diagnose, and provide treatment or consultative services
- Provide critical care management of life-threatening organ system failure from any cause in children, from the term or near-term neonate to the adolescent
- Support vital physiological functions, including conditions such as shock, coma, elevated intracranial pressure, seizures, infections, acute and chronic renal failure, acute endocrine electrolyte emergencies (including diabetic ketoacidosis), sepsis, heart failure, trauma, acute and chronic respiratory failure, drug overdoses, massive bleeding, central nervous system dysfunction (including cerebral resuscitation), and kidney failure

Shift & Schedule
- One service week per month with additional night time calls
- Rotating schedule with 5 other PICU physicians
Requirements
- BC/BE in Pediatric Critical Care
- M.D. or D.O. degree
- Successful completion of a hospital-affiliated Pediatric residency program
- Completion of a Pediatric Critical Care fellowship accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada
- Certification in the primary area of practice by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable
- If not board-certified at the time of application but completed fellowship within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training
- Minimum of 1-year experience preferred
- Ability to demonstrate at least 50 Pediatric Critical Care procedures in the last 12 months
