Mount Sinai Health System is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Neonatologist to join their academic division. This role involves providing high-acuity clinical care in both Level III and Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs), with a primary focus on the Level IV NICU at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital. The position offers opportunities for teaching, mentorship, and participation in academic initiatives within a leading academic medical system.

Practice Info

  • Primary clinical responsibility in the 46-bed, Level IV NICU at Mount Sinai Kravis Children's Hospital
  • Supports one of the busiest obstetric and maternal-fetal medicine programs in Manhattan, with over 8,000 deliveries annually
  • Additional clinical opportunities in the Level III non-surgical NICU at Mount Sinai West
  • Additional clinical opportunities in the NICU Developmental Follow-Up Clinic

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical care coverage for Level III and Level IV NICUs including overnight call
  • Manage critically ill neonates, including extremely preterm infants and those requiring advanced life-sustaining therapies
  • Attend and lead high-risk deliveries, including complex maternal-fetal cases
  • Perform neonatal resuscitation and oversee stabilization of critically ill newborns
  • Direct management of advanced respiratory support, including conventional and high-frequency ventilation
  • Manage complex neonatal conditions requiring therapeutic hypothermia, inhaled nitric oxide, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
  • Perform and supervise procedures (e.g., intubation, UAC/UVC placement, chest tubes)
  • Supervise and teach residents, fellows, APPs, and provide real-time bedside teaching and overnight clinical mentorship

Compensation

  • Competitive academic salary
  • Compensation range from $225,000 to $350,000 (not including bonuses / incentive compensation or benefits)

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited institution
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine fellowship
  • Eligible for academic appointment at the Assistant/Associate Professor level (rank commensurate with experience) to the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai
  • Active (or eligible for) New York State medical license
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
