Sanford Health, one of the largest and fastest-growing not-for-profit health systems in the US, is seeking a Pediatric Cardiologist to join its team. This role involves providing comprehensive cardiac care to pediatric and adolescent patients, as well as adults with congenital heart disease, within a state-of-the-art medical center. The position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dedicated pediatric cardiology department and engage in clinical faculty activities.
Practice Info
- Sanford Medical Center houses a 12-bed PICU with additional flex beds, a 24-bed pediatric unit, and a 40-bed Level III NICU.
- The department includes 4 pediatric cardiologists (one dual-boarded in adult congenital) and 1 pediatric nurse practitioner.
- TTE and Fetal echocardiograms are completed by in-clinic board-certified congenital sonographers.
- Regional (State of North Dakota and Western Minnesota) Echocardiograms and ECGs are read by cardiologists.
- Outreach clinics schedule 8-10 patients with dedicated board-certified congenital sonographers traveling with providers.
- Specialized pediatric lipid clinic and adult congenital heart disease clinics are available within the department.
Responsibilities
- Perform history and physical examination.
- Admit, evaluate, diagnose, treat, and provide treatment or consultative services to children and adolescents up to age 21 with cardiovascular disease.
- Provide treatment or consultative services to adults with a history of congenital heart disease and disorders of the heart and blood vessels.
- Provide care to patients in the intensive care setting in conformance with Rules and Regulation and hospital policies.
- Participate in hospital consults and reads while on call.
- Read regional (State of North Dakota and Western Minnesota) Echocardiograms and ECGs.
- Teach medical students and family medicine residents as clinical faculty with the Department of Pediatrics at UND School of Medicine and Health Science.

Shift & Schedule
- Call responsibilities include hospital consults and reads but no clinic while on call.
Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. degree.
- Successful completion of a Pediatric residency program of at least three years' duration.
- Successful completion of a fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology of at least 3 years' duration accredited by the ACGME, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada.
- Certification by the appropriate specialty/subspecialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS), the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as applicable.
- If not board certified at the time of application but fellowship training completed within the last five years, must achieve board certification within five years from the date of completion of fellowship training.
- Demonstrate active involvement of 25 Pediatric Cardiology procedures during the past two years with satisfactory quality data (for applicants not directly out of fellowship).
