UNC Health is currently seeking a Board Eligible/Certified Pediatric Cardiologist to join our multi‑specialty practice in Wilmington, NC. The successful candidate will live and work primarily in Wilmington, NC, providing pediatric and fetal care throughout southeastern NC in partnership with Novant Health – New Hanover Regional Medical Center (NH‑NHRMC). This facility houses a community‑based, multispecialty practice and a children’s hospital that includes a 45‑bed Level III NICU, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, and inpatient unit. The physician will also be expected to develop and perform clinical activities in surrounding outreach locations in southeastern NC.
As a top‑tier academic medical center, UNC Children’s upholds a four‑tiered mission to “CARE,” aligning clinical care, advocacy, research, and education to deliver world‑class family‑centered care. Novant Health and UNC Health formed a partnership in early 2021 to broaden and enhance pediatric care in Southeast NC and expand medical education at the Wilmington branch campus of the School of Medicine. Through this collaboration, NH‑NHRMC will become the tertiary care referral hospital for children in Coastal and South‑Eastern NC.
Responsibilities
- Provide outpatient pediatric cardiology care with a focus on fetal echocardiography as preferred
- Deliver inpatient consultation services as needed
- Develop and perform clinical activities at outreach locations in southeastern NC
- Participate in faculty meetings and case‑management conferences virtually with Chapel Hill
- Teach UNC School of Medicine students and Novant residents
- Engage in multidisciplinary care through The UNC Children’s Heart Center
Qualifications
- Board‑certified or board‑eligible in Pediatric Cardiology
- MD license in North Carolina
- DEA license, BLS certification
- Prefer prior experience in Pediatrics
- Proficient in English communication
Education & License Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited medical school
- Meeting board certification requirements
Physical Demands & Work Environment
The position requires regular sitting, use of hands, talking, and hearing, with occasional standing, walking, kneeling, bending, and reaching. Visual requirements include close vision. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds required. Physician generally works in a medical office setting with moderate noise levels.
