Position Summary
The University of North Carolina is seeking a talented and dedicated board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist (open rank) to join our team!
The Department of Anesthesiology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks a skilled pediatric anesthesiologist to join a collaborative and dynamic Division of Pediatric Anesthesiology. The division consists of 16 fellowship-trained pediatric anesthesiologists dedicated to excellence in clinical care, education, and multidisciplinary partnership. Faculty play an active role in resident and fellow education through a fully accredited Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship program, with opportunities for mentorship, program development, and leadership.
We welcome applicants with a broad range of pediatric anesthesia experience. Candidates with additional training or clinical interest in congenital cardiac anesthesia and/or pediatric chronic pain are highly encouraged to apply.
UNC Hospitals and North Carolina Children’s Hospital provide a diverse and high-acuity clinical environment, with over 12,000 pediatric anesthetics delivered annually. Clinical practice spans a wide range of surgical and procedural care, supported by a 20-bed multidisciplinary Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and a 13-bed dedicated Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU). The institution supports an active pediatric cardiothoracic surgery program, as well as ECMO (Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation), burn, trauma, solid organ transplantation, and bone marrow transplantation services.
The division maintains an active role in a multidisciplinary pediatric sedation service and a robust regional anesthesia program, supporting both perioperative care and enhanced recovery pathways. UNC Children’s also offers a well-established inpatient pediatric chronic pain program and is actively expanding outpatient, multidisciplinary pain services to better meet the needs of patients and families.
This position offers the opportunity to build a rewarding clinical practice within a collegial academic environment. The start date for this position is flexible.
