Children's Hospital of Michigan, a nationally ranked institution and the first and largest children's hospital in Michigan, is seeking an Allergy/Immunology physician to join its growing Division of Allergy, Asthma, Immunology and Rheumatology. This full-time, employed position offers a collaborative, academically engaged environment with dedicated research support and active multicenter clinical trials. The role involves an 80% clinical effort and 20% protected academic time for teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development.

Practice Info

  • Join a team of six Allergy/Immunology faculty members, two Pediatric Rheumatologists, 4 Allergy/Immunology fellows, specialized allergy/immunology nursing staff, social workers, and asthma-focused advanced practice support.
  • The division has an established SCID newborn screening program.
  • The practice includes an infusion center and dedicated research support.
  • Patient populations include pediatric and adult patients with a broad spectrum of allergic and immunologic diseases.
  • Academic appointment with the Department of Pediatrics, Central Michigan University College of Medicine.

Responsibilities

  • Dedicate 80% effort to clinical activities.
  • Dedicate 20% protected academic time to teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development.
  • Provide inpatient allergy/immunology/asthma consult service.
  • Participate in shared home call responsibilities.
  • Provide weekend inpatient consult coverage.
  • Teach medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Engage in inter-institutional teaching and research collaboration with Michigan State University and Wayne State University School of Medicine.

Shift & Schedule

  • Full-time, employed position with an 80% clinical effort with 20% protected academic time dedicated to teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development.
  • Balanced clinical schedule with 6-7 half-day clinics per week.
  • Approximately 5-7 days of inpatient allergy/immunology/asthma consult service per month.
  • Shared home call responsibilities with no in-house call requirements.
  • Average weekend inpatient consult coverage is 1 every 4-5 weeks.

Requirements

  • Board certification by the American Board of Pediatrics and/or American Board of Internal Medicine.
  • Fellowship training in Allergy/Immunology with board eligibility or board certification in the subspecialty.
  • Eligibility to obtain Michigan medical licensure.
  • Strong interest in teaching medical students, residents, and fellows.
  • Interest in quality improvement, education, research, and program development is encouraged.
  • Experience or interest in food allergy and oral immunotherapy is welcomed.
