Overview
Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Locum Tenens opportunity in Columbia, SC. Join a leading acute care hospital and provide clinical support to adult and geriatric patients in the PCU. This travel nursing assignment offers experience in Columbia’s culture and healthcare community.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the PCU
- Monitor and assess patients regularly, including those with cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, gastrointestinal, endocrine, surgical, and sepsis diagnoses
- Administer medications, manage cardiac drips (no titration), insulin protocols, and blood product administration
- Perform wound care, tracheostomy management, and feeding tube care
- Document and chart patient information using Epic EHR
- Float to similar units or sister facilities as needed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, rapid response teams)
- Maintain infection control standards and isolation precautions
- Participate in emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)
Qualifications
- Active South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license (pending license with proof of application accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of recent PCU RN experience in an acute care hospital
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Proficient with Epic EHR
- Experience managing a 1:4 patient ratio
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
- First-time travel nurses not accepted
