Overview

Registered Nurse – Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Locum Tenens opportunity in Columbia, SC. Join a leading acute care hospital and provide clinical support to adult and geriatric patients in the PCU. This travel nursing assignment offers experience in Columbia’s culture and healthcare community.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in the PCU
  • Monitor and assess patients regularly, including those with cardiac, pulmonary, neurological, gastrointestinal, endocrine, surgical, and sepsis diagnoses
  • Administer medications, manage cardiac drips (no titration), insulin protocols, and blood product administration
  • Perform wound care, tracheostomy management, and feeding tube care
  • Document and chart patient information using Epic EHR
  • Float to similar units or sister facilities as needed
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, rapid response teams)
  • Maintain infection control standards and isolation precautions
  • Participate in emergency response teams during hurricane season (June–November)

Qualifications

  • Active South Carolina or Multi-State/Compact RN license (pending license with proof of application accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU RN experience in an acute care hospital
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • NIHSS certification preferred
  • Proficient with Epic EHR
  • Experience managing a 1:4 patient ratio
  • Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
  • First-time travel nurses not accepted
