Role Overview

PCB Tool Specialists apply hands-on PCB layout, schematic capture, and circuit simulation experience to evaluate AI-generated electronics design outputs. You will review AI responses related to PCB design and embedded hardware, develop domain-specific prompts, and provide targeted feedback that helps AI better understand EDA workflows and electronics design tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Evaluate AI-generated schematics, PCB layouts, and simulation outputs for correctness, completeness, and practical feasibility.
  • Provide written feedback and annotations to improve AI responses aligned with real-world EDA practices.
  • Develop and refine domain-specific prompts and test cases for large language models and other AI tools.
  • Work asynchronously with research teams to iterate on tasks, follow instructions, and document findings.
  • Occasional hands-on tasks involving schematic capture, PCB layout, or circuit simulation as required by individual projects.
Qualifications
  • At least 1+ year of practical work experience using one or more of the following tools: LibrePCB, KiCAD, Ngspice, Qucs-S, LTspice, or other PCB and circuit simulation tools.
  • Experience with PCB layout, schematic capture, or embedded hardware design.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate feedback clearly in written form.
  • Comfort working asynchronously with remote research teams.
Work Terms
  • Engagement type: Part-time, hourly contract work, remote and asynchronous.
  • Flexible schedule, with no minimum required hours per week, so you can take on work alongside other commitments.
  • This is an ongoing, project-based arrangement. Placement into specific projects will depend on project availability.
  • You will be expected to perform tasks and submit feedback according to each project’s instructions and timelines.
Compensation
  • Paid hourly, up to $125/hr (depending on the project).
Eligibility
  • F-1 students who are eligible for CPT or OPT may be eligible to participate. Work with your Designated School Official to confirm your eligibility.
  • If your school requires enrollment in a CPT course for authorization, this project-based arrangement may not meet that requirement.
  • STEM OPT is not supported.
