PCA / Paraprofessional

Overview
The Judge Group is seeking compassionate, dependable, and student-focused Personal Care Assistants (PCAs)/Paraprofessionals to support elementary-aged students in Emotional Support, Autism Support, and Life Skills programs.
The PCA/Paraprofessional works collaboratively with teachers, administrators, therapists, and support staff to help students achieve academic, behavioral, social, and developmental success. Candidates must be comfortable providing hands-on assistance and personal care support to students with varying levels of need.
Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and small group support throughout the school day.
• Assist students with academic instruction, classroom activities, and participation.
• Support students with emotional, behavioral, social, and communication needs.
• Implement behavior intervention plans and classroom strategies under the direction of school staff.
• Assist students during transitions, lunch, recess, specials, and other school activities.
• Support students enrolled in Emotional Support, Autism Support, and Life Skills programs.
• Assist with activities of daily living (ADLs).
• Provide feeding assistance during meals and snacks as needed.
• Assist with toileting, changing, diapering, and personal hygiene needs.
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment.
• Collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, administrators, and support personnel.
• Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in accordance with school policies.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or transcript for any completed higher education required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain patient, flexible, and professional in a dynamic educational environment.
• Ability to provide personal care assistance, including:
  • Feeding support
  • Toileting assistance
  • Diapering/changing
  • Hygiene assistance
  • Behavioral support and intervention

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children.
• Experience supporting students with special needs, including autism, behavioral needs, or developmental disabilities.
• Experience working in educational, behavioral health, childcare, or related settings.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred, with in-person training preferred.

Required Clearances & Documentation
Candidates must be able to provide the following prior to starting:

• Pennsylvania Criminal Background Clearance (completed within the last year)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance (completed within the last year)
• Act 24 Arrest and Conviction Form
• Act 126 Mandated Reporter Training Certificate (completed within the last five years)
• TB Test Results (completed within the last year)
• High School Diploma, GED, or higher education transcript
• CPR/First Aid Certification preferred

Important Note
This position requires direct, hands-on student support. Candidates must be comfortable providing personal care and behavioral support services, including feeding assistance, toileting support, diapering/changing, hygiene assistance, and behavioral intervention.
The role supports students in Emotional Support, Autism Support, and Life Skills programs and requires a proactive, student-centered approach to ensuring safety, engagement, participation, and success throughout the school day.
