Responsibilities
As a Personal Care Assistant/Instructional Aide, you will be responsible for providing a range of support, including:
- Assisting with personal hygiene, such as toileting, washing hands and faces, and changing diapers or clothing.
- Helping students with feeding, positioning, and monitoring their health conditions.
- Implementing positive behavior intervention support policies and assisting in managing student behavior.
- Supporting academic instruction as directed by the classroom teacher, including working on cognitive, fine, and gross motor skills.
- Collaborating with teachers, case managers, and other staff to support the student's educational plan.
- Assisting with the use of braces, orthopedic equipment, and other physical development activities.
- Maintaining accurate records of student progress and attending required training sessions.
- Implement positive behavior intervention support policies.
- Collaborate with case workers, general education teachers, and other staff as
needed. - Work cooperatively with others and independently as needed.
- Assist students in social interactions.
- Perform other duties similar to the above in scope and function as required.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with children, students, general caregiving, or behavioral health is required.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR to be obtained before the start date.
- Experience in special education or behavioral health is preferred.
- Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with five shifts per week. Shift hours vary based on student needs, ranging from 5.75 to 6.5 hours per day. A 30-minute unpaid lunch break is not included in these hours.
- Physical Requirements: The role involves physical tasks such as lifting, positioning, and repositioning students with disabilities.
