Payroll ManagerLocation: Carson, CA (On-site)Our client is a growing, dynamic organization in the Carson area seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead and oversee in-house payroll operations for a large, complex workforce. This is a hands-on leadership role for a detail-oriented payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and brings deep expertise in payroll compliance, union payroll, and multi-state operations.The ideal candidate will have strong leadership capabilities, a commitment to accuracy, and the ability to partner cross-functionally while ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.Key Responsibilities:Oversee and manage in-house payroll processing for 800+ employees, including union and non-union staffSupervise weekly and bi-weekly payroll cycles, ensuring accuracy of wages, benefits, garnishments, and tax deductionsEnsure compliance with multi-state payroll tax laws, wage and hour regulations, and union labor agreementsReconcile payroll tax submissions and manage quarterly and annual filings, including W-2sPrepare payroll documentation and reports for audits, workers' compensation reviews, and union contract requirementsServe as the primary escalation point for payroll inquiries and discrepancy resolutionPartner with HR, Finance, and Operations to support payroll-related initiativesIdentify and implement process improvements to streamline payroll operations and increase efficiencyMaintain and update payroll systems in alignment with current regulations and company policiesTrain, mentor, and develop payroll staff to support operational excellence and team growthQualifications:5+ years of in-house payroll experience, including leadership or supervisory responsibilitiesProven experience managing payroll for large employee populations (1,000+ employees)Strong knowledge of union payroll, multi-state payroll compliance, and wage & hour lawsExperience with payroll tax filings, audits, and regulatory reportingHigh level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentialityStrong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skillsPayroll certification (CPP or FPC) preferredWhy Join?Join a growing and forward-thinking companyLeadership role with the ability to make an impactStable, long-term opportunity with room for professional growth
