Commonwealth Payroll is a fast growing payroll and HR company located in Virginia Beach, VA and they are recruiting for a new Payroll Specialist or Senior Payroll Specialist. This is a newly created position due to growth and a great opportunity to be mentored by an experienced manager. This is an in-office position based in Virginia Beach.

Responsibilities
- Work with clients to create and process their payrolls accurately and timely
- Respond to customer support tickets and resolve payroll related questions and issues
- Leverage an understanding of federal and state taxes, insurance policies, employee benefits, PTO, and accruals to support clients as needed
- Run and review payroll reports prior to processing to ensure payrolls and taxes are correct and on an ad hoc basis as needed
- Execute time and attendance processing and interface with payroll
- Process correct garnishment calculations and compliance
- Assist with accurate and timely year‑end reporting when necessary (W2s, 1095s, 1099s etc.)
Qualifications
- 4+ years of payroll processing experience
- FPC or CPP is preferred
- A Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Must be a team player and be able to meet tight deadlines
- High level of detail‑orientation, time management, and organizational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
