Payroll Specialist

Payroll SpecialistLHH Recruitment is working with a company near Scottsdale who is in search of a payroll specialist. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented payroll professional to manage high-volume, multi-state payroll operations for a workforce of over 1,000 employees. The hourly rate is between $28/hr-$32/hr.What You'll DoProcess bi-weekly payroll for 1,000+ employees across multiple states.Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.Audit payroll data, including timecards, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.Process new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, bonuses, commissions, and retroactive pay adjustments.Maintain payroll records and employee files while ensuring confidentiality.Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and resolve payroll discrepancies.Respond to employee payroll questions regarding paychecks, deductions, taxes, PTO, and direct deposits.Process wage garnishments, child support orders, levies, and other payroll deductions.Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation and payroll audits.Partner with HR, Accounting, and management to ensure accurate employee and payroll data.Assist with payroll reporting, reconciliations, and process improvements.Qualifications3+ years of payroll processing experience.Experience processing multi-state payroll for 1,000+ employees is required.UKG experience is strongly preferred.Strong understanding of payroll laws, tax regulations, garnishments, and compliance requirements.Experience with payroll reconciliations and reporting.Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas and data manipulation.Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving abilities.Ability to maintain confidentiality while working in a fast-paced environment.Preferred QualificationsCPP certification is a plus.Experience working with HRIS systems and timekeeping platforms.Experience supporting audits and year-end payroll processing.
