Payroll Specialist

We are assisting a client, in downtown Mobile, AL, in their search for a detail-oriented and dependable Entry-Level Payroll Specialist . This position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in payroll or accounting. The Payroll Specialist will assist with processing payroll accurately and on time while maintaining employee records and supporting day-to-day payroll activities.

Responsibilities:

• Collect, review, and verify timesheets, attendance records, and payroll documentation.
• Audit timekeeping records, identify discrepancies, and work with employees and supervisors to resolve issues.
• Process regular hours, overtime, commissions, bonuses, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll adjustments.
• Assist with weekly, biweekly, and other scheduled payroll processing.
• Review payroll registers and prepare payroll reports to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure direct deposits, checks, and other employee payments are processed accurately and on time.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, taxes, direct deposits, and payroll corrections.
• Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records.
• Assist with payroll tax reporting, W-2 preparation, year-end processing, and payroll compliance. xhqgsiq
• Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates or bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred
• 1+ year of administrative, accounting, payroll, or office experience preferred
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
