Payroll Specialist

We are seeking a detail-oriented and dependable Payroll Specialist to join our client's team. This individual will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and on time while ensuring compliance with company policies, federal and state regulations, and payroll best practices. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and experience managing payroll in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, or monthly payroll for employees.
• Review timesheets, attendance records, and pay adjustments for accuracy.
• Maintain payroll records and employee data in the payroll system.
• Calculate wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, deductions, and garnishments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
• Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end reporting.
• Respond to employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Process new hire information, employee status changes, and terminations.
• Prepare payroll-related reports for management, accounting, and audits.
• Assist with year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing.
• Partner with HR and Accounting to ensure accurate employee and compensation data.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
• Knowledge of payroll laws, tax regulations, and wage and hour requirements.
• Experience with payroll software such as ADP, Paychex, UKG, Ceridian, Workday, or similar systems.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification.
• Experience processing multi-state payroll.
• Knowledge of HRIS and timekeeping systems.
