As a first-level processor, this role performs payroll-related transactions, validates employee and payroll data, and ensures compliance with established procedures and controls. The Payroll Processing Analyst collaborates with payroll team members and functional partners to address routine inquiries, escalate complex issues as needed, and contribute to the efficient delivery of payroll services.Major Responsibilities:Act as first level liaison between the Applied and 3rd Party Payroll provider with regards to day-to-day processing operations to include production of off-cycle payrollsWork closely with HR staff to assure complete coordination of efforts and procedures with pay, deduction, and benefits information used for payroll production, tracking and reporting.Develop policies and procedures to ensure adherence to internal controls, GAAP, and federal and state regulations.Lead or participate in cross-functional projects with internal and external business partners.Identify areas of improvement and provide requirements/solutions related to payroll as well as the payroll processing procedures for continuous improvement of the payroll department's efficiency and effectiveness.Effectively and proactively educate staff, business partners and employees on payroll related policies and procedures.Query/report developmentSupport SOX controlsKey Competencies:Extensive knowledge of Federal, State and Local tax and payroll regulations in a multi-state organization and Federal and State wage and hour laws (FLSA).Thorough knowledge of the end-to-end Payroll processes and service delivery model.Strong analytical abilities, including the ability to identify and communicate trends.Proven ability to build/maintain effective professional relationships and partnerships with all levels of the Company and third-party service providers.Ability to prioritize, manage time effectively, and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and pressure situations and meet defined timelines.Proven competencies, particularly in communications, presentations, multi-jurisdictional payroll, analysis and related decision-making, problem solving.Excellent communication skills, time management, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and interpersonal skillsCommunication skills including ability to communicate with remote work force across the US.Strong work ethic focused on producing results and adding value to the team and company.Ability to work in a team environment and establishes strong working relationship with peers.Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting or finance or equivalent combination of education and experience4+ years of experience in payroll function in a complex, multi-state organization to include processing, payroll tax, timekeeping, wage garnishments, system implementation, reporting, and general ledger.Experience in Workday Payroll Management System preferredProficient skills with Microsoft Office applicationsExperience with comprehensive outsourced payroll model preferred.CPP or CPA preferred.
