The Payroll Partner will be responsible for the accurate and timely payroll processing, submission, reporting, and auditing for salary and hourly employees while ensuring compliance with company policies as well as Federal, State, Local and IRS regulations. The role maintains a high standard of quality and accuracy by proactively managing the payroll cycle to meet all payroll deadlines, providing excellent customer service, and working closely and collaboratively with HR and other cross‑functional departments. The Payroll Partner supports process and technology improvements that increase efficiency and precision across enterprise pay and time processes.

Qualifications

  • University degree with 4+ years of relevant payroll experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2+ years multi‑state and local payroll tax experience
  • Experience with Workday Payroll highly preferred
  • Experience with UKG Pro WFM (formerly Dimensions) and/or Workday Time a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to manage payroll activities in support of complex labor policies and legislation
  • Experience working in a manufacturing and union environment
  • Must adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment
  • Ability to multi‑task and work within tight deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong customer service orientation

Responsibilities

  • Execute day‑to‑day payroll processing responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner, including data entry of pay transactions, payroll calculations, payroll audit, settlement, cash requirements, garnishment administration, and report generation
  • Conduct audits of payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies, payroll regulations, and tax requirements while maintaining confidentiality and completeness of payroll data
  • Validate payroll data in Workday such as changes, hours, earnings, and retroactive adjustments
  • Ensure pay practices and policies comply with wage & hour laws, federal & state regulations, and company policy & procedures
  • Create off‑cycle payments for pay errors and termination pay
  • Manage HR ServiceNow tickets and payroll emails for assigned pay groups, ensuring timely resolution
  • Complete reconciliations, corrections, root‑cause analysis, and troubleshoot issues and problems
  • Provide support to Associate Pay Partners for pay processing, balancing, review & audit, and problem resolution
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders on impacts beyond Pay & Time based on knowledge of Benefits, HR Systems, HR Analytics, Time, Payroll Taxes, Compensation, Finance, and Internal Audit
  • Look for ways to improve processes and support departmental operational and transformation initiatives
  • Demonstrate understanding of policies and calculations for all pay groups
  • Participate in various projects, which may include implementation, process improvement, and year‑end activities
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
