Payroll ManagerStarting salary: $79,040 annuallySummary: Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely compensation for a diverse workforce, including hourly, salaried, and tipped employees. Maintain compliance with federal, state, and tribal laws. Provide supervision, direction, and support to payroll team members.
Responsible for a high level of guest service as described in your department's guest service standards.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all casino employees using UKG Pro/WFMServe as hands-on, subject matter expert for UKG Pro/WFM and related modules, as applicableEnsure compliance with federal, state, tribal, and gaming commission regulationsCollaborate with HR to ensure accuracy of new hires, transfers, employee wages, benefit deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdingsCollaborate with Finance to ensure accuracy and timeliness in financial reporting, payroll funding, and tax withholding paymentsComplete payroll reconciliations and generate payroll journal entriesReview and reconcile payroll tax reports, including W-2s, and quarterly filingsRespond to employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies with discretion and professionalismCompile and create spreadsheets or reports for internal and external business partnersPrepare and file annual IRS Forms 8027Prepare work papers for the annual 401k auditCoordinate with IRS to maintain the Tip Rate Determination AgreementHire, schedule, train, delegate tasks, direct daily work activities to ensure adequate coverage, and inspect completed work for conformance to standardsSupervise and mentor payroll staff, ensure their professional growth and optimize team performance, evaluate staff and conduct performance reviewsImplement and maintain effective procedures, audits, and record-keeping systems to ensure efficiency, data accuracy, and accessibilityManage relationships with payroll service providers and other external partners to ensure service quality and cost effectivenessCollaborate with the I.T. department for payroll system changes and testingComplete special projects as requested, and perform other duties as assignedKnowledge and Certification, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge and Certification:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, H/R, or related field5+ years of payroll experience, preferably in the hospitality or gaming industryProven experience using UKG software (UKG Pro, WFM, or similar modules)Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting toolsExcellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and communication abilitiesPreferred:Experience in processing a weekly payroll for 1000+ employeesCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) designationSkills:Ability to solve arithmetic problems quickly, and to cross-reference and cross-check numbers repeatedly and frequentlyEffectively manage time and prioritization to ensure deadlines are metDemonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills with close attention to detail in order to effectively monitor progress and complete assignments effectively and accuratelyDemonstrate initiative and self-direction to perform a variety of simultaneous skills (multi-tasking)Ability to analyze data and identify reporting errorsHighly organized and ability to adapt quickly to changing prioritiesStrong computer skills Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and WindowsExcellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skillsPreferred:Leadership skills to direct the work of othersAbilities:Ability to work fast and efficientlyAbility to follow established dress code policies and practice good personal hygieneAbility to interact with guests, coworkers and management in a professional and courteous mannerAbility to independently complete multiple tasks in a professional mannerAbility to serve both internal and external customersRequired Training:Treasure Island guest service trainingPayroll and Timekeeper systems trainingAny position-related training as determined by division directorPhysical Demands:Must be able to sit for long periods of time with infrequent amounts of walking and standingMust have a good sense of balance, and be able to bend, kneel and stoop infrequentlyMust be able to reach and twist infrequentlyMust be able to push, pull and grasp objects occasionallyMust have the ability to independently lift up to 20 pounds occasionallyMust be able to perform repetitive hand and wrist motionsMust have good eye hand coordinationWorking Environment:Work is performed primarily in administration building but may include going onto the gaming floor, which includes flashing lights, frequent loud noises and cigarette smokeMust be willing to work a flexible schedule including all shifts, weekends and holidaysExtensive computer useOccasionally overtime may be requiredOccasionally must deal with angry or hostile individualsEqual Opportunity Employer This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
