Payroll Manager
Cherry Bekaert's Shared Services team is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead a high-impact payroll function supporting a multi-entity organization. This role offers the opportunity to drive payroll excellence, enhance processes, and lead a collaborative team in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. This position is available to work in a hybrid capacity from one of our major office locations.
As a Payroll Manager, you will:
- Lead and oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring timely, accurate, and compliant payroll delivery across the organization and its subsidiaries
- Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of payroll professionals, fostering accountability and continuous growth
- Ensure all payroll transactions — including new hires, terminations, and compensation changes — are processed accurately and efficiently
- Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries, delivering responsive and high-quality support to employees and leadership
- Monitor and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, proactively implementing updates as needed
- Prepare and review payroll-related filings and reporting, including tax payments, year-end forms, and required regulatory documentation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance payroll accuracy, efficiency, and overall service delivery
- Maintain and optimize payroll systems and tools to support business needs and scalability
- Collaborate cross-functionally with HR, People & Culture, Benefits, and IT teams to ensure seamless payroll operations and system integration
What you bring to the role:
- High School Diploma required; FPC or CPP certification required
- 10+ years of payroll experience in a corporate or professional services environment, including experience leading payroll teams
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, coach, and develop team members while driving high performance
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage deadlines and ensure accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization
- Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to prioritize a dynamic workload and adapt to evolving business needs
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience with Workday payroll required; exposure to UKG preferred
- Experience supporting or leading payroll system implementations, preferably within Workday

Pay Range:
$91,800 to $146,900 per year
