Payroll Manager
CFS is partnering with a growing hospitality organization to identify a Payroll Manager to oversee and coordinate payroll operations for a large, multi-state employee population. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys ownership of the payroll function while collaborating with an outsourced payroll provider. The position is based 5 days onsite in South Boston and offers a salary range of $120,000-$130,000 plus potential bonus opportunities.
Payroll Manager Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary internal owner of the payroll function for approximately 2,300 employees across multiple states
- Partner closely with the outsourced payroll provider to ensure timely and accurate payroll processing
- Manage and review bi-weekly payroll data, audits, reconciliations, and reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations
- Validate employee data, earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit withholdings
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
- Review payroll controls and identify opportunities for process improvements
- Generate payroll reports and analytics for leadership as needed
- Collaborate with HR, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure payroll accuracy
- Maintain payroll records and support audit requests
Payroll Manager Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, Business, or related field preferred
- 5+ years of progressive payroll experience
- Experience processing or overseeing high-volume, multi-state payroll
- Proficiency with Paycor
- Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance and wage regulations
- Experience working with outsourced payroll providers
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently as a team of one supporting payroll operations
- Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
