Payroll Clerk
Our client is a large, multi-location organization seeking a Payroll Clerk to join its centralized accounting team. This position is responsible for supporting payroll operations for a sizable employee population across multiple locations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing payroll data in a fast-paced environment while ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. This position is temp to hire and will pay between $23 and $27/hr.
Job Responsibilities
- Process weekly and biweekly payroll for employees across multiple locations.
- Review and verify employee time records, attendance data, and payroll adjustments.
- Enter and maintain payroll information, including new hires, terminations, pay rate changes, and deductions.
- Ensure payroll calculations are accurate for wages, overtime, bonuses, commissions, and other earnings.
- Assist with payroll tax reporting and compliance requirements.
- Process garnishments, benefit deductions, and other payroll-related withholdings.
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee payroll inquiries.
- Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation in accordance with company policies.
- Reconcile payroll-related accounts and assist with month-end closing activities.
- Prepare payroll reports for management and accounting teams.
- Support year-end payroll activities, including tax form preparation and reconciliation.
- Collaborate with Human Resources and Accounting to ensure employee information is accurate and up to date.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred but not required.
- 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
- Experience handling payroll for a high-volume workforce.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax withholdings, and wage laws.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
