Payroll Processor

Location: New York, NY Duration: 08/03/2026 – 09/26/2026 Shift: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM | 35 hours per week. Pay - $30/hr - $35/hr.

Schedule Notes
  • 1-hour lunch break
  • Flexible schedule required every other Friday:
    • 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM, or
    • 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience with garnishments, taxes, and year-end payroll activities.
  • Strong analytical skills related to retro calculations of pay and time.
  • Ability to work with multiple systems simultaneously.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including:
    • Word
    • Excel
    • Outlook
  • Strong payroll software experience, specifically:
    • Oracle Cloud
    • PeopleSoft
    • ADP
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in payroll calculations and data entry.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.
  • Knowledge of labor laws, payroll regulations, tax codes, and compliance requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with HR, Finance, and employees.
  • Prior experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources preferred.
Education
  • High School Diploma Required.
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred.
  • Associate Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field is often preferred.
Required Certifications & Licensure
  • FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) Preferred.
  • CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) Preferred.
Key Responsibilities & Duties
  • Accurately process payroll, including wages, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
  • Calculate and process tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefit deductions (including 401(k)).
  • Maintain employee payroll records and files.
  • Input and manage employee data within HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Manage and maintain time-and-attendance records.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws.
  • Prepare and support payroll reporting requirements, including W-2 processing.
  • Reconcile payroll records and review payroll tax filings.
  • Assist with payroll audits and compliance reviews.
  • Resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay issues.
  • Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and internal stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus.
  • Experience working in large healthcare or hospital environments preferred.
