Payroll Assistant
Seeking candidates with at least 2+ years of payroll processing experience, including garnishments, taxes, and year-end payroll activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills related to retroactive pay and time calculations and the ability to work across multiple systems simultaneously.
Certification preferred: FPC or CPP
Education:
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
Key Responsibilities & Duties
- Process payroll accurately, including wages, overtime, bonuses, deductions, tax withholdings, garnishments, and benefits (401k)
- Maintain employee records and input data into HRIS/payroll systems
- Manage time and attendance records
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and tax laws
- Prepare and support payroll reporting requirements, including W-2s
- Perform payroll reconciliations, review tax filings, and assist with audits
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee payroll inquiries
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong technical proficiency with payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
- Experience with:
- Oracle Cloud
- PeopleSoft
- ADP
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to handle confidential employee information
- Knowledge of payroll compliance, labor laws, and tax regulations
- Effective communication skills with HR, Finance, and employees
Preferred Experience
- Prior experience in payroll, accounting, or human resources
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
- Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation is a plus
