About the Opportunity - Payroll Assistant
Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join their team in Nashville, TN. This role will support day-to-day payroll operations while playing a key role in month-end and fiscal year-end payroll activities, including W-2 processing and payroll reconciliations. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a high level of accuracy, and prior payroll experience in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities - Payroll Assistant
  • Assist with the preparation and processing of weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll.
  • Support month-end and fiscal year-end payroll close activities.
  • Assist with W-2 preparation, verification, and distribution.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy within payroll systems.
  • Process payroll changes including new hires, terminations, pay rate adjustments, and deductions.
  • Verify timekeeping records and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, taxes, deductions, and earnings.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with payroll-related account reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations.
  • Support audits by gathering payroll documentation and reports.
  • Assist with payroll reporting and special projects as needed.
Qualifications - Payroll Assistant
  • 2+ years of payroll, accounting, or related administrative experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting month-end and year-end payroll processes required.
  • Knowledge of W-2 processing and payroll tax regulations preferred.
  • Familiarity with payroll software and HRIS systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, sorting, filtering, and basic formulas.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Accounting, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Ability to work onsite in Nashville, TN.
