Payroll SpecialistThis position is responsible for payroll preparation/processing, garnishment reporting and union-records administration. The incumbent assists payroll staff members during the absence of the Payroll Manager and serves as backup.Focus is on, but not limited to the following:Verify and process payroll information, including employee time and attendance, tax withholding, and benefits deductionsVerify payroll adjustmentsPrimary responsibility is received, set up and withhold voluntary withholdings disbursements such as levies, garnishments, and child supportResponsible for the garnishment to AP Infinium interface and distribution of checks or electronic payment to the appropriate agencies of the garnishment withholdingProvide payroll-related information to the accountants as requested and help reconcile the GL accountsDetermining and correcting out-of-balance conditionsPreparing and filing tax liabilitiesCheck electronic data for errorsProcess terminated employeesProcess all manual checks for adjustment, terminations, direct deposit refundsEnsure timely approval and missing punches in the timekeeping systemProcess payroll on time and accurately, in compliance with state and federal regulationsVerify accuracy of paid time off accrualsOversee PTO processing, by reviewing eligibilityAdhere to departmental quality standardsWork within the guidelines established by the companyResponds to employee and departmental complaints/inquiries, in person, in writing or by telephone to resolve payroll/personnel transaction issuesMust maintain accurate departmental recordsMaintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping confidential informationContinuously review and recommend improvements to payroll processes to increase efficiency and accuracyOther duties as assignedDesired Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or equivalent experienceKnowledge of principles of payroll, including tax withholding, voluntary deductions such as levy, garnishment and child support, and fringe benefits1-3 years Payroll experience for a Resort/CasinoPrevious experience with Infinium and TimekeepingWorking knowledge of various Casino Payroll matters to include:GITCA, Tokes & TipsOperate a calculator quickly and accuratelyAble to deal tactfully with employees of all levels in frequently trying situationsProficient Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel,) and knowledge of front-of-house casino operations as related to PayrollExcellent communication skills, customer service and team oriented, self-starterStrong data entry skills, organization, analytical, and problem-solving skills and exhibit composure and professionalism while under pressureAbility to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while meeting constant deadlines and maintaining strong attention to details
