A growing organization is seeking an experienced Payroll Accountant to join its accounting and finance team. The Payroll Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate payroll processing, maintaining payroll-related financial records, supporting month-end close activities, and ensuring compliance with all applicable payroll regulations.

Key Responsibilities of the Payroll Accountant

As a Payroll Accountant , you will:

  • Process weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on schedule
  • Review payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, deductions, taxes, and benefits
  • Prepare and record payroll journal entries and related accounting transactions
  • Reconcile payroll accounts and ensure alignment with the general ledger
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  • Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation
  • Support payroll tax reporting and regulatory compliance requirements
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
  • Assist with benefit reconciliations, garnishments, and other payroll-related deductions
  • Prepare payroll reports and analysis for management
  • Support audits by providing payroll documentation and reconciliations
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance to ensure accurate employee and payroll data

Preferred Qualifications of the Payroll Accountant

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
  • 3+ years of experience as a Payroll Accountant or similar payroll/accounting role
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations, payroll taxes, and accounting principles
  • Experience with payroll systems and ERP/accounting software
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical abilities
  • Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
