Paving Roller Operator/LaborerAs an asphalt roller operator, your duties are to operate paving equipment, such as motorized rollers, to create a paved road or another surface for a construction or repair project. You work with many different pieces of machinery that are designed to apply different surface materials.ResponsibilitiesCompacts asphalt material to required density and finish using rollers of various sizesPerforms hand tamping on edges and areas where the roller cannot reachMust be able to see and correct defects in surfaces being rolled, such as depressions, swales, seams, edges, etc.Responsible for having a thorough understanding of various aspects of the paving industry including preparatory work, grades, drainage, paving patterns, mix designs, job specifications, compaction and other details related to asphalt pavingMust perform general laborer duties as assignedQualificationsPerforming physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.Able to lift 50 pounds.
