Paving/Roller OperatorHazleton Division, a part of H&K Group, Inc., is currently seeking an experienced and motivated Paving/Roller Operator to become a part of our team. This position entails the operation of roller equipment and other paving activities to achieve daily production goals on road construction projects, often transferring from one task to another whenever the situation requires. If you meet the job requirements outlined below, H&K would be happy to consider you for this position.ResponsibilitiesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerforms all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policiesOperate the roller machine on road construction projectsPerform daily checks on equipment to ensure proper operating conditionMaintains equipment by greasing properly and checking fluids daily (oils, coolant, fuel level) and keeping clean and free of debrisEnsures equipment is safely and securely parked and storedNotifies shop foreman of any requirements for maintenance or repairsLevels earth to fine grade specificationsPaving Duties: Assists with pre-run markingsUses a paving lute to fine grade before roller man compactsOperates vibratory plate as neededShovels asphalt as requiredDirect traffic around work area as requiredOther duties as assignedQualificationsRequired Skills, Education, and ExperienceExperience with roller machines on highway road construction projectsExperience raking, shoveling, and operating the screedStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to understand and carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructionsProblem solvingAbility to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as neededAbility to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)Preferred Skills, Education, and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institutionFour years of experience with roller machines on highway road construction projectsExperience with other heavy equipment commonly used in highway road constructionOSHA or other relevant safety certificationsPhysical DemandsRegularly required to standRegularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and armsFrequently required to walkOccasionally climb or balanceOccasionally talk or hearFrequently lift and/or move up to 100 poundsVision abilities include depth perception and ability to adjust focusWork EnvironmentRegularly exposed to moving mechanical partsRegularly exposed to fumes or airborne particlesFrequently exposed to outside weather conditionsFrequently exposed to vibrationFrequently exposed to high, precarious placesNoise level is usually very loud
