Patient Services Representative IIWe are seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Patient Services Representative II to join our team. In this role, you will serve as a vital link between patients and our billing operations, ensuring a smooth check-in experience while supporting the early stages of the revenue cycle. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in insurance processes, committed to excellent customer service, and comfortable handling both administrative and financial responsibilities in a fast-paced medical office environment.Reports To: PSR SupervisorDepartment: BillingSupervises: N/ALocation: On site - Fredonia NYTravel Required: <10%Position Type: Full-time, Non-exemptPay Information: $16 - $20 per hour with potential $1/hour differential after trainingPatient Services Representative II is physically present in every office but acts as an extension of our remote Billing team as the initial phase of the Revenue Cycle. In addition to guiding patients through the operational process of checking in, the PSR II role is instrumental in collecting/verifying insurance information for accuracy, educating patients on their financial responsibility for payment, and is familiar with the revenue cycle process in general. Provides patient with post-appointment summary and schedules next appointment while patient is in the office.Role and Responsibilities:Check patients in by collecting information required for visitVerify demographics and insurance are currentSchedule patient for next office appointment and give visit summary when leaving officeCollect copay and other applicable balance due by patientAssist patients in education of their financial responsibility with demonstrated knowledge of insurance plans, copayments and familiarity with FHMS's revenue cycleConfirm/verify insurance benefits with the appropriate carrier via online verification systems or telephone inquiriesPromote FHMS patient portal and assist patients in registration for this serviceObtain signature of patient or family member for consent to treatment and financial responsibility following the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) rules and regulationsMerge duplicate patient chartsPosting receipts from chart centralCollecting and posting payments made in officeBilling department administrative duties as assignedComplete daily scan of incoming mail and recordsCompletes daily cash out and depositHandles cash bag per policyWork within designated tank to call patientsMaintain office cleanliness set by OSHA standardsMaintain strict HIPAA standards related to patient informationParticipate and communicate in team meetings to identify and problem solve processesAny additional duties assigned by PSR Supervisor or Billing Manager as needed for effective department or interdepartmental teamworkRequirementsQualifications and Education Requirements:Knowledge of medical terminology requiredKnowledge of insurance plans and copayments required1-2 years experience in a medical office role requiredHigh School Diploma or GED requiredAssociates Degree in related field preferredExcellent verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize and meet deadlinesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsPreferred Skills:Prior medical billing experienceCertified Coder1-2 years of Medent experience preferred other EMR experience consideredExcellent customer service skills requiredProficient in Microsoft SuitePhysical Requirements/Working Conditions:The physical requirements and working environment are typical of most medical office settings.
