This role ensures timely and accurate reimbursement for hospital services while providing a positive, patient-centered financial experience.The representative works closely with patients, clinical departments, and payers to support Medicaid eligibility, billing, and financial assistance programs, helping ensure access to care for diverse and underserved patient populations.Key ResponsibilitiesHospital Revenue Cycle OperationsProcess inpatient and outpatient hospital billing, including claim submission and follow-upPerform payment posting, adjustments, and account reconciliationMonitor assigned hospital accounts receivable and follow up on unpaid or underpaid claimsInvestigate and resolve claim denials, coding issues, and billing discrepanciesEnsure timely account resolution in accordance with hospital billing guidelinesMedicaid & Insurance SupportVerify insurance coverage and Medicaid eligibility for hospital patientsAssist with Medicaid enrollment, applications, and redeterminations for admitted and outpatient patientsSubmit and track Medicaid and third-party claims, including corrections and appealsIdentify denial trends and escalate issues impacting reimbursementPatient Financial CounselingExplain hospital billing processes, insurance coverage, and patient financial responsibilityAssist patients in applying for charity care, financial assistance, and presumptive eligibility programsCollect required documentation and ensure completeness of applicationsSet up payment plans in accordance with hospital policiesCustomer ServiceRespond to patient and guarantor inquiries regarding hospital bills and insurance claimsProvide clear, compassionate communication, especially in high-stress hospital situationsResolve routine issues and escalate complex cases to supervisorsCompliance & DocumentationMaintain compliance with hospital policies, HIPAA, and federal/state regulationsEnsure accurate and complete documentation in hospital billing systemsSupport audit activities by maintaining proper records and following internal controlsCollaborationCoordinate with patient access, registration, case management, utilization review, and clinical departmentsCommunicate with insurance companies and Medicaid representatives to resolve account issuesSupport discharge planning by addressing financial clearance and eligibility needsQualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Business, or related field preferredExperience1–3 years of experience in hospital patient financial services, billing, or revenue cycle operationsExperience with inpatient and outpatient hospital billing preferredFamiliarity with Medicaid eligibility and hospital-based financial assistance programsSkillsKnowledge of hospital billing systems and electronic health records (EHR)Strong understanding of insurance processes, including Medicaid and MedicareExcellent customer service and communication skills in a healthcare environmentAbility to manage multiple accounts and meet productivity standardsAttention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving abilitiesAbility to work in a fast-paced hospital settingBenefitsPaid Sick Time - effective 90 days after employmentPaid Vacation Time - effective 90 days after employmentHealth, vision & dental benefits - eligible at 30 days, following the 1st of the following monthShort and long-term disability and basic life insurance - after 30 days of employment
