Role Overview

Lead and shape patient financial clearance and counselling operations while evaluating AI tools designed to improve financial screening, charity care and self-pay workflows. In this role you will guide operational best practices, review AI-generated recommendations and communications for accuracy and appropriateness, and help build training data that improves patient access and revenue capture.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead patient financial counselling and financial clearance activities, including charity care screening, financial assistance application processing, and resolution of self-pay accounts.
  • Evaluate AI-generated financial counselling recommendations, eligibility screening outputs, and patient communication drafts for clinical appropriateness, regulatory compliance, and clarity.
  • Screen patients for Medicaid eligibility, charity care qualification, and enrollment in financial assistance programs.
  • Counsel patients on expected financial obligations, payment plan options, and available assistance programs.
  • Coordinate with social work, case management, and billing teams to resolve complex patient financial situations.
  • Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures for pre-service financial screening, point-of-service collections, and financial clearance workflows.
  • Monitor and report KPIs such as charity care conversion rates, financial assistance enrollment, and point-of-service collection performance.
  • Ensure program and process compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including 501(r) regulations and EMTALA.
  • Annotate AI outputs and provide structured, actionable feedback to support AI training datasets and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience in patient financial counselling, financial clearance, or self-pay revenue cycle management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Deep working knowledge of charity care programs, financial assistance eligibility, Medicaid screening, and self-pay collections.
  • Familiarity with 501(r) regulatory requirements and hospital financial assistance policy compliance.
  • Experience with point-of-service collections, payment plan administration, and patient financial advocacy.
  • Proficiency with EHR platforms such as Epic and Cerner, and with financial assistance management tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills, with high attention to detail for evaluating financial documentation and AI-generated outputs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) or similar revenue cycle certification.
  • Experience using presumptive eligibility screening tools and facilitating Medicaid enrollment.
  • Background working in hospitals, health systems, or federally qualified health centers (FQHCs).
  • Familiarity with AI tools and demonstrated comfort evaluating AI-generated patient financial content.
  • Experience developing patient financial education materials and delivering staff training programs.

Compensation
