Jackson and Coker is seeking a Board Certified Pathologist for an ongoing locum tenens assignment in Kentucky. This role involves providing vacation coverage, focusing on a diverse caseload of surgical and non-gyn cytology cases. The successful candidate will join a supportive team with dedicated pathology assistants and grossers, ensuring efficient workflow and a manageable call schedule.
Practice Info
- The practice volume is approximately 16,000 cases annually and is currently supported by three pathologists.
- Cases are shared between the on-site pathologist and the remote pathology team as needed.
- One pathologist's assistant (PA) and one high complexity grosser are available.
- Transcriptionists are available off-site to type reports, with a typical turnaround time of 2 hours or less.
- There are no cytotechs.
- The PA and high complexity grosser will gross all specimens.
Responsibilities
- Handle a caseload of around 60-70 cases per day (50-60 surgical, 5-10 non-gyn cytology).
- Participate in weeknight call, including anatomic call, clinical call, and blood bank call.
- Interpret slides for rare rapid onsite evaluations for radiology or pulmonology.
- Perform peripheral blood smear reviews.

Shift & Schedule
- Ongoing Vacation Coverage.
- Monday through Friday, typically 8:00 am – 4:00 pm.
- Weeknight Call is required and includes anatomic call, clinical call, and blood bank call; very few calls after hours.
- No weekend call.
Requirements
- Kentucky State Medical license required to apply (IMLC certificate must be active at time of present).
- Board Certified.
