Life Sciences Patent Attorney (Litigation & Prosecution) – Contract
Location: Fully Remote
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 40+ hours/week

Base pay range
$200.00/hr - $240.00/hr
Key Responsibilities
- Develop case strategies for complex life sciences patent disputes.
- Draft and review pleadings, motions, briefs, and discovery requests/responses.
- Analyze patents, prior art, technical records, and expert reports to prepare for depositions and trial.
- Prepare witnesses and collaborate with scientific experts to align testimony with case objectives.
- Manage document review and production to meet court deadlines.
- Conduct in-depth legal and technical research to support litigation positions.
- Draft, file, and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in life sciences technologies.
- Prepare responses to USPTO office actions, including complex rejections.
- Conduct freedom‑to‑operate analyses, patentability assessments, and portfolio management.
- Work with R&D teams to translate complex scientific concepts into strong, defensible claims.
- Coordinate with foreign counsel for international filings and prosecutions.
Case Management & Reporting
- Oversee high‑volume reporting to clients, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Manage case timelines, budgets, and deliverables in collaboration with partners.
- Act as a primary point of contact for clients and team members.
- Maintain organized matter files, docketing, and document management systems.
Qualifications
- JD and PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline (molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, etc.).
- Extensive experience in both patent litigation and prosecution.
- Proven track record of managing multiple complex matters simultaneously.
- Strong knowledge of USPTO and federal court procedures.
- Exceptional legal writing, analytical, and research skills.
- Ability to excel in a high‑volume, fast‑paced work environment.
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative team mindset.
