A law firm seeks a Patent Attorney in Buffalo, New York. The ideal candidate will have 1 to 4 years of experience in intellectual property, specifically in patent preparation and prosecution. Recent law school graduates with prior work experience as a patent agent will also be considered.
Duties
- Draft and prosecute U.S. and international patent applications in various engineering disciplines.
- Prepare responses to USPTO Office Actions and manage examiner interviews.
- Conduct patentability, freedom-to-operate, and validity analysis.
- Stay current on patent law developments and emerging technologies.
- Communicate effectively with inventors, in-house counsel, and foreign associates.
- Participate in client meetings and contribute to business development efforts.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree (or higher) in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, physics, computer engineering, or a related field.
- Registration to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Strong academic credentials.
- Excellent technical, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with other practice areas.
Education
- Undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
