Job Summary
nProvide positive mentorship to at risk youth by modeling healthy, trusting relationships through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries. Help youth understand the importance of education, healthy relationships, finding a sense of self, and giving back to the community while providing the tools, guidance, support and feedback needed to thrive. Finally, a Youth Impact Mentor must be encouraging and engaging for children and will maintain the integrity of Youth Impact’s mission and goals demonstrating values at all times.
nEssential Duties & Responsibilities
nYouth Engagement:
nEstablish rapport with youth and provide mentoring, guidance and role modeling
nProvide a safe environment for youth, supervision, interacting with youth
nContinually interact with youth by providing motivation and encouragement
nPlan engaging activities
nWork in high energy, loud and active setting with large group of youth
nMentor/teach cleanup groups
nCase Management:
nAnalyze grades
nWork closely with Child and Family Advocate
nWork with and build positive relationship with family
nMaintain case files
nAddress student/staff conflicts in a respectable timely manner
nProgram Duties
nPick up youth from school and transport to program
nUnderstand grants and how to apply them to a certain areas
nProvide transportation from program to home
nAssist with meals and snack time
nParticipate in monthly trainings and weekly staff meetings
nParticipate in any additional program needs as required
nOther duties as assigned
nLeadership
nTrain new mentors
nSupport fellow mentors
nBe flexible and ready to fill in where needed
nCommunicate in a positive way with other staff and participants
nEducation & Experience Requirements
nHigh School diploma or GED
nExperience working with youth preferred
nKnowledge, Skills & Abilities Requirements
nPrevious experience working with at risk youth or disadvantaged clients
nIndependent and take initiative
nKnow the meaning of being a mentor at work and in life
nConfident working with and tutoring youth
nResponsible , present, purposeful and positive
nAssociates or some college preferred
nDrivers License and clean driving record
nPass a background check
nAbility to put aside biases and personal background
nMaintain professional boundaries with participants
