Part Time Town Treasurer

The Town of Coventry is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented, and public-service-minded Town Treasurer . The Town Treasurer in Coventry is an appointed position.

This key financial position is responsible for banking, payroll, tax billing, accounts payable, general ledger, investments, audit support, and related municipal finance functions.

The ideal candidate will bring strong municipal, financial, and customer service skills, along with the ability to manage deadlines, maintain accurate records, and support transparent and responsive local government.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate should have strong knowledge of, or the ability to learn:

• Vermont municipal treasurer responsibilities.
• NEMRC municipal accounting software.
• Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, online portals, and financial systems
• Municipal finance, accounting, payroll, banking, billing, investments, and audits.
• Property tax billing administration.

Minimum Qualifications

A combination of education, training, and experience sufficient to learn and perform the duties of the position is required. The Town actively trains and strongly supports the professional development of its municipal officials.

Work is performed primarily in a municipal office setting with regular interaction with the public, Town employees, elected and appointed officials, auditors, vendors, state agencies, and outside professionals.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time position with a competitive salary. Benefits are negotiable.

Anticipated salary range

$20,000 to $26,000 , depending on qualifications and experience.
