Job Description

The College of Medicine Department of Molecular and Precision Medicine is seeking applicants for a Research Technician for a 3-month assignment working 40 hours a week to help test and validate a new device for rapid identification of a novel bacterial pathogen.

The position involves wet bench molecular microbiological techniques, particularly quantitative PCR, enzyme-linked immune sorbent assays (ELISA) and other immunological assays, to determine the specificity and selectivity of a novel lateral flow device. This position is needed to fulfill the goals of a recently awarded NIH grant and is critical as an antecedent for deploying the device in field settings.

Preferred Qualifications

The applicant should have a Bachelors of Science degree and at least two years’ experience in wet bench molecular genetic techniques with particular preference for experience with ELISA and other immunological techniques.

Compensation

The starting rate for this job is $19.00 an hour.
