Position Summary
We are seeking a consultative Behavioral Care Group Medical Director (Psychiatrist) to provide high-level psychiatric and medical oversight for clinical programs.
This non-clinical role focuses on protocol review and consultative quality oversight without direct caseloads, active patient supervision, delegated authority, or clinical sign-offs on direct patient care. The defined scope is specifically structured to minimize licensure risk while providing expert clinical guidance.
Key Responsibilities

• Clinical Oversight & Consultation
• Attend monthly virtual check-in meetings with the Clinical Director to discuss program quality and emerging clinical issues.
• Provide guidance on evidence-based practices, standards of care, and clinical protocols.
• Support risk management efforts and assist in reviewing critical incidents as needed.
• Quality & Compliance
• Advise on clinical quality improvement initiatives and outcomes measurement.
• Ensure alignment with regulatory, ethical, and accreditation standards.
• Review and approve clinical policies, treatment guidelines, and protocols annually or as updates arise.
• Act as clinical signature authority for organizational documents, policies, and regulatory filings requiring physician oversight.
• Support credentialing, grant applications, or insurance contracting requiring a physician of record.
• Maintain all required licensures and complete applicable CMEs.
• Program Development & Leadership
• Consult on service line expansion (e.g., psychiatry integration, specialty programs, higher care levels).
• Provide subject matter expertise on emerging mental health trends.
• Join periodic leadership meetings and serve as a clinical liaison between therapy providers and medical considerations.

Qualifications

• Advanced clinical degree in behavioral health (MD or DO / Psychiatrist) only.
• Active, unrestricted medical license in all 50 states (or the ability to obtain).
• Strong background in behavioral health management, clinical decision-making, and evidence-based care.
• Outpatient behavioral health experience preferred.
• Familiarity with clinical governance, risk management, and quality improvement.
• Strong collaborative skills across multidisciplinary clinical teams.
