Part-Time Payroll SpecialistAre you an experienced payroll professional looking for a small, consistent part-time schedule where your expertise will be genuinely valued?Our client, an established construction company, is seeking an experienced Part-Time Payroll Specialist to oversee and process its weekly payroll.This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional, consultant, semi-retired payroll specialist, or someone looking to supplement another part-time position with approximately 5–10 hours of consistent work each week.The RoleEmployees submit their timesheets by Monday morning, making Monday and/or Tuesday availability essential.You'll be responsible for reviewing payroll information, identifying discrepancies, making sure hours and applicable pay rules are handled correctly, and processing payroll accurately and on time.This isn't simply a data-entry position.We're looking for someone who understands payroll well enough to recognize when something doesn't look right and knows what questions to ask before payroll is finalized.What You'll DoYour responsibilities will include:Oversee and process weekly payroll using Miter for up to 75 employeesReview employee timesheets submitted by Monday morningVerify hours, rates, classifications, and other payroll information for accuracyReview and process regular and overtime hoursApply appropriate union payroll requirementsProcess payroll involving prevailing wage requirementsAccount for applicable travel time and other job-related compensationReview payroll for unusual entries, discrepancies, or potential errors before processingResearch and resolve payroll discrepanciesMaintain accurate payroll records and documentationEnsure payroll is processed accurately and according to established deadlinesCoordinate with accounting and internal personnel regarding payroll questions or correctionsWork with payroll information flowing between Miter and Sage 300Help ensure payroll practices are consistent with applicable company, union, and project requirementsServe as a knowledgeable payroll resource when questions ariseWhat We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who already has a strong payroll foundation and can work independently with limited supervision.The ideal candidate will bring:Several years of hands-on payroll processing experienceExperience with construction payroll and/or union payrollKnowledge of prevailing wage payrollStrong understanding of overtime calculations and requirementsExperience handling travel time, different pay rates, classifications, or other variable payroll situationsStrong attention to detail and the ability to identify discrepanciesExcellent organizational and follow-through skillsThe ability to work independently and meet firm payroll deadlinesProfessional communication skills and good judgment when resolving payroll questionsHighly PreferredPrevious experience with Miter payroll would be particularly valuable.Experience with Sage 300 is also strongly preferred, particularly experience working in an environment where Sage 300 interfaces with the payroll system.Candidates with strong construction and union payroll experience who have used other payroll platforms are still encouraged to apply.ScheduleThis is a part-time position requiring approximately 5–10 hours per week. Flexible schedule.Because employee timesheets are submitted Monday morning and payroll must be processed shortly thereafter, candidates must have consistent availability on Monday and/or Tuesday each week.This role is best suited for someone specifically seeking a limited but dependable weekly schedule rather than a traditional 20- or 40-hour position.Why This Opportunity?The payroll implementation is already complete and working successfully.
