Maintenance TechnicianThe Maintenance Technician helps keep the church's buildings and grounds in good repair and working order. This role handles day-to-day repairs and light maintenance across the building, and may also take on some or all of the groundskeeping responsibilities for the property. This position falls under the Facilities Department.Building Maintenance & RepairsStay on top of repair needs throughout the building, addressing issues as they arisePerform light repairs on doors, lighting, ceilings, and other building componentsComplete HVAC-related maintenance, including filter changes and minor repairsHandle basic plumbing repairsAssemble furniture and other items as neededSet up and tear down furniture for services, meetings, and eventsRespond promptly to maintenance requests from staffGrounds KeepingWork with lawn care team to care for trees, bushes, and lawn areasMaintain and monitor the sprinkler systemGeneral upkeep of outdoor property areas and building exteriorGeneralKeep basic records of repairs, maintenance work, and suppliesCoordinate with the Facilities Director on larger repairs or outside contractor needsMaintain a safe environment by identifying and addressing hazardsQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalentPrior experience in building maintenance, groundskeeping, or a related trade preferredBasic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and general repair workComfortable using hand and power tools safelyAbility to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks (climbing ladders, kneeling, standing for extended periods)Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work with minimal supervisionGood communication skills and a cooperative, service-minded attitudeMust pass a background checkTechnical/Hands-On SkillsBasic carpentry (door adjustments, minor repairs, assembly)Basic electrical (lighting fixtures, outlets, troubleshooting simple issues — not licensed electrical work)Basic plumbing (unclogging drains, fixing leaky faucets, toilet repairs)HVAC basics (filter changes, thermostat troubleshooting, recognizing when to call a licensed tech)Tool proficiency (drills, ladders, basic power tools, multimeter for simple diagnostics)Furniture assembly and setup/teardown logisticsA valid driver's license to run errands or pick up suppliesBasic computer skills to log work orders or communicate via email/appsPhysical Requirements (if applicable)Work is performed both indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.
