The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a Part-Time Lifeguard  to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Parks and Recreation department.  If you are an experienced swimmer with an eagle eye to detect danger in and around large swimming pool areas, you have a customer centric focus, and have the ability to multi-task, this may be a fun and rewarding job for YOU!

The Part-Time Lifeguard earns a competitive salary of $14.07 - $14.93/hour based on qualifications. We also offer access to the city's recreation fitness center

JOB SUMMARY

n

The purpose of this class within the organization is to enforce rules and regulations, to provide the safety and welfare to patrons.

n

This class works under close supervision according to set procedures

nn

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

n

Regular and timely attendance at work, as scheduled.

n

Lifeguards' pools; enforces rules and regulations; provides safety and welfare to patrons.

n

Serves as lifeguard and monitors the safety of aquatic facility patrons; participates in enforcing safety policies and procedures; initiates rescues, administers First Aid and/or CPR.

n

Provides exemplary customer service to all facility users including, but not limited to, members, class members, facility rentals and school district and club athletes and coaches.

n

Perform daily maintenance functions of cleaning deck, restrooms, grounds, and building, etc. Immediately report unsafe equipment, facility, chemical, etc. issues to management.

n

Checks and logs pool chemicals every two hours to ensure pools are safe for swimming.

n

Insert and remove lane lines as needed. Ensures lanes are marked for current reservations throughout the day.

n

Checks all areas of natatorium facility to ensure safety of patrons. Immediately reports unsafe equipment, facility, chemical, etc. issues to management.

Performs opening and or closing procedures as directed.

n

Sets up and converts pools and facility for competitions and other reservations.

Additional Duties :

n

Attends bi-weekly in-services to practice skills and maintain certifications.

n

Provides excellent customer service when patrons ask questions or have concerns.

n

Performs related work as assigned.

n

Works days, evenings and weekends as required.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  

n

Entry level education for this position does not require completion of high school.  

n

Minimum age for consideration is 16 years of age. 

n

Special Certifications and Licenses:

n

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification or ability to obtain within 30 days

n

Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License (or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire)
