The Computer Engineering Department in the College of Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo is seeking part‑time lecturer positions for the academic year. All appointments are made from a temporary pool and require availability on short notice. Responsibilities include teaching courses in computer engineering such as digital design, computer architecture, embedded systems, and related subjects. Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in computer engineering including digital design, computer architecture, embedded systems, and related subjects.
Educational Requirements
Initial rank and salary are based on professional experience and educational background. Most new lecturers are hired at Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024, classification salary ranges are: Lecturer A $5,507-$6,677, Lecturer B $6,221-$13,224, Lecturer C $6,825-$14,523, Lecturer D $8,593-$15,211.
Qualifications
- B.S. in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, with multiple years of applicable industry experience; or M.S. in the same fields.
- Effective written and oral communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to student‑centered learning and teaching, and ability to collaborate in multidisciplinary settings.
Preferred Qualifications
- University teaching experience.
- Experience working with diverse populations and fostering a collaborative, supportive, and inclusive environment.
Special Conditions
- Position is a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act.
- Background check, including criminal records, must be completed satisfactorily before employment.
