Part-Time PTA Instructor/Lab AssistantThe Part-Time PTA Instructor/Lab Assistant provides instruction in classroom and lab settings, supporting student learning and skill development in alignment with program curriculum and institutional standards.
Responsibilities include delivering course content, evaluating student performance, maintaining records, and fostering an engaging learning environment. The instructor collaborates with program faculty to ensure consistency, compliance with Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education standards (CAPTE), and continuous program improvement. This role requires professionalism, flexibility, and a strong commitment to student success.Position responsibilities:Deliver classroom and lab instruction as assigned, ensuring effective use of instructional time and alignment with course objectivesEvaluate student performance using established grading methods and provide timely, constructive feedback on academic progressMaintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and student performance in accordance with institutional policiesProvide students with clear course expectations, as an instructor, this includes syllabi, objectives, and required materialsFoster an engaging, supportive learning environment that recognizes diverse learning needs and promotes student successEncourage professionalism, accountability, and motivation among studentsRefer students to appropriate campus resources for academic and support services as neededUtilize the college's learning management system and instructional technology effectively, including basic troubleshootingMaintain lab equipment and supplies, ensuring proper use and reporting needs to the Program DirectorCollaborate with the Program Director and faculty to support student retention, remediation, and program effectivenessAdhere to institutional policies, program requirements, and accreditation standards, including Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education guidelinesParticipate in required meetings and professional development activities as appropriateParticipate in accreditation reporting, preparation, and record-keepingSupports program goals and CAPTE accreditation standardsOther duties as assignedMinimum Position Requirements:Associates of Applied Science in Physical Therapist AssistantHold's an active, unencumbered PT license or PTA licenseMinimum of 5 years full-time post-licensure experience that includes 3 years minimum of full-time clinical experienceSkills & Abilities:Maintains current, evidence-based knowledge of physical therapy practice and integrates clinical expertise into classroom and lab instructionDemonstrates competency in entry-level PTA skills, including therapeutic exercise, modalities, and patient handling, to support student skill developmentApplies clinical experience to enhance teaching, promoting real-world application of course contentCommunicates effectively in both written and verbal formats with students, faculty, and staffUtilizes instructional technology, including learning management systems and standard office software, to support teaching and recordkeepingDemonstrates professionalism, reliability, and strong organizational skills, including attention to detail and ability to manage multiple responsibilitiesApplies critical thinking and problem-solving skills to support student learning and address classroom or clinical-related issuesBuilds and maintains positive, professional relationships with students, faculty, and staff to support a collaborative learning environmentSupervisory Responsibilities:0 Full-Time Direct Reports 0 Part-Time Direct ReportsPhysical Demands and Work Environment:Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.No or very limited physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.No or very limited exposure to physical risk.Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:The rate of pay is $35 per hour for up to 19 hours per weekWorker's compensationLimited Part-Time Retirement PlanKilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX.
